Refer a patient
Dr Jason Tsung accepts referrals for adult hip and knee conditions, from osteoarthritis and joint replacement to sports and traumatic injuries. Referrals can be emailed to hello@sgco.au, and the patient then contacts our rooms to arrange an appointment.
Referral process
Send the referral by Medical Objects or email it to hello@sgco.au. The patient books their appointment by telephoning (07) 5676 9930. A current referral is required for the consultation and for the patient to claim the Medicare rebate. GP referrals are valid for 12 months; specialist referrals for 3 months.
Information to include
To assist triage and consultation planning, please provide:
- Patient name, date of birth and contact details
- Relevant history, presenting symptoms and duration
- The clinical question or reason for referral
- Recent imaging (X-ray, MRI or CT) and reports, where available
- Current medications and relevant comorbidities
Scope of practice
Dr Tsung is a hip and knee surgeon. Suitable referrals include:
- Hip and knee osteoarthritis, including assessment for joint replacement
- Hip replacement, including the direct superior approach
- Knee replacement, total and partial, with functional alignment and the anterolateral skin incision
- Sports knee injuries, including ACL and meniscal injury
- Bone and joint injuries of the hip and knee
- Patients for whom non-surgical arthritis management is appropriate before surgery is considered
Urgent referrals
For urgent referrals, please telephone the rooms on (07) 5676 9930 so the appointment can be prioritised, and indicate the urgency and reason on the referral.
After the consultation
You will receive written correspondence from Dr Tsung following the consultation, outlining his assessment and proposed management plan. New patients complete a pre-registration form before their first appointment.
Fees
Dr Tsung offers Known Gap billing with all major health funds, and every surgical patient receives a written estimate before any procedure. See fees and health funds.
